Field Trials

Do Dachshunds Hunt? Yes they do! Field Trials are a way to test the trailing instincts of your Dachshund. At a Field Trial, the Dachshunds are “braced” meaning they are run in pairs. They are judged on how accurate they are on the scent line, how active they are in the search, and how much forward progress they make. While some people do train their Dachshunds for the field, your dog really doesn’t need any formal training to participate. Many newbies have come in with a dog straight off their couch and placed in the top 5 with that same dog.
